GPU upgrade from GTX 970

So I think this is a good time to upgrade from my GTX 970 after the latest Techlink episode saying that GPU price is gonna drop. So I was wondering whats a good GPU to buy right now. I'm still hovering between a GTX1660TI and GTX 1080 TI

1080ti will smack the 1660ti to hell and back. 1080ti is a good choice or if you care about rtx then 2080 should be good. Also what is your rig spec ? If you stream or record video of gameplay then go rtx.

What's your monitor resolution/refresh rate?

The 1660ti isn't much of an upgrade IMO

3rd gen with ddr4? hmmm but to be honest we both kinda have a same setup.. put into consideration an rtx 2060 while yea its not the most powerful card... a 3rd gen i5 would bottleneck some cards in newer games with just having 4 threads to work with.

Hmmm, if he doesnt plan to upgrade his CPU and everything with it, i would not suggest higher refresh monitors.

A 4k display is likely the way to go but I don't know your budget or country

Dont really like 4k cause it cost too much so ill stick with 1080

Well you can get a1080p 144hz display, but AAA games aren't going to run past 100fps on your i5 most likely.

Esports games should be fine though.

 

Wait for Ryzen 3000 and Navi to release later in the year most likely, get a CPU and GPU upgrade. Though you also need DDR4 then.

Especially given that 1160ti price. Navi might be Vega 56 for RX 590 prices* although I guess that doesn't matter for AUS prices...maybe like $300 AUD for something close to Vega 56 if really lucky
