So I got a bunch of parts from one of my friends and am wondering how this would compare for light business workloads and some casual gaming. ON top of that I was wondering where this thing compares to other systems and if there is any upgrades people would recommend when I have the cash. I also am unsure if I did the thermal paste right... I mean in my case for what I am doing would that matter much... Would it be something that I should open the system up and reinstall the cooler for? Anyway attached is a speccy list of my hardware and cinebench scores. Obviously newer machines would blow this out of the park but its not like I am planning to do everything at high.

I would honestly stay away from buying any "newest-gen" GPUs. They just don't seem worth the money to me. The i7 4790k was one hell of a chip when it was new, and I would bet that that CPU is more than enough for any type of game, so you can definitely hold off on upgrading that for at least a few more years. That RAM though, yikes. The capacity seems really great, 24 gigs is a pretty high number, but the speed, 815MHz is slow as Christmas. Yeah, I'm aware it's DDR3, but there is plenty of DDR3 memory out there that runs circles around that stuff in terms of clock speed. As for GPUs, I think a GTX 980 or 980Ti would be a good suit to your system, and you could get awesome performance in games at 1080p or 1440p with one of those cards.
