Hello Everyone,

Planning to buy a premium laptop which lasts a very long time. Currently, I'm using HP-T2001 (2011 model) and it really needs an update. It's working fine, but not catching up with the type of programs I'm running.

Requirements:

1. A very very very very very good keyboard experience.

2. Long battery life

3. Should be good enough to run Machine Learning & AI related stuff.

If you need a powerful laptop (one that is likely to last longer) all the reviews point towards the gigabyte aero 15x, if you don't need the extra power, then according to linus and dave lee's reviews the best keyboard is on the surface laptop (however personally I'd avoid due to zero upgradability and ability to open up) or the dell xps 15 (which is a good balance between powerful enough and long battery life)- the gigabyte laptop according to reviews is around 4 hours whilst the xps is around 7-8, I think.

What is your overall budget?

also, when you say battery life, how many hours are you looking at? bear in mind that powerful usually means less battery life.

I'm ok to spend 1200-1500$. I usually spend more than 4hrs typing on my personal laptop beside work, So keyboard experience is something I'm really concerned.

I thought of xps15, but there are a lot of bad reviews towards that model & I'm bit confused about whether to go for it or not.

What about lenovo (T480/Xtreme) or ASUS laptops? I used my hp laptop which is ~500$ for more than 7 yrs without any repair. Now I want something of the same durability & stability.

I guess this edition is discontinued.

No it isn't. They just replaced Arch Linux with Ubuntu.

When developer is in the name, you know it is gear towards the programmers.

Im not familliar with most laptops but according to reviews the best one for you may be the surface laptop, its got pretty good build quality (although not upgradable) and a long battery life, no other asus gaming or any other gaming laptop will get you the battery life you need.

yeah if you are not onto gaming then surface pro2 is good for your problems and i would suggest spectre if you are up to it since  i find it much classy if you are concerned about looks (although it doesnt matter ,i carry a alienware everywhere see how hard my life would be, nevermind)yeah and if you are into gaming also msi would be a good choice but you need to keep in mind that gaming doesnt bring battery ....
