Brainstorming CPU upgrade

Okay so I tend to stream games here and then with a i7 4790k which is a quad core. This results in some games using too much CPU usage and making then stream laggy. I was seeing that the i7 8770k is a 6 core and it advertises it as a good streaming CPU. Now the first question is should I go through with upgrading? If yes, what are some good motherboards that aren't 150+ dollars? I want a reliable motherboard with decent features, I'm not really into all that flashing looking pc parts. Should I wait until there are sales???

It's always a good idea to find coupons from local shops for places like Fry's or Microcenter, and also do you plan on overclocking? Not everyone who buys a K-SKU plans to do so and you can save money with just the 8700 if you like, and then the H370 offerings are very attractive under the $150 price point.

Or go Ryzen, new products soon.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

That's true some are not good for overclocking right? What do you recommend anyways?

Gigabyte is great this time around for z390 I'm not sure on z370 boards. I would recommend Ryzen over intel for streaming, I've been doing more streaming since I got my 2700x for my second system and it's been a total workhorse of a CPU. I did the same upgrade as you for the second system.

I know Ryzen is a beast but I don't know much about the line up.

Ryzen 7 is the 8 Core 16 Thread
Ryzen 5 is the 6 Core 12 Thread

You would be looking at probably one of those 2, they aren't strong overclockers at all but they are workhorses for the money. You can get a fairly decent x470 board for 150$ and never overclock. Memory depending if you wanna go with 32GB or 16GB I would go with 3000MHz at the most for a board in that range imo.

Crazy overclocking headroom, otherwise nothing at all.

Gotchu but maybe almost 300 for a mobo overkill?

Depending on the setup, that's usually overkill, unless you're using a high end CPU. Anything in the 150-250 range is typically high quality without being over priced.
