DNS server not responding?

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

FIXED. So it was windows firewall. I went into safe mode and disabled it. And ta daaaaa it worked. So then I just reset the firewall to stock settings and it started working again. Yay. Thanks for the help everyone

Please help meeeeee

Hi everyone,

So I posted in the network section of the forum but I feel as though this is super urgent as I do everything on my desktop and need it for school :(

Okay so the problem is that the computer says it is connected to the internet through my TP-Link PCI-E network card. But I can't actually visit webpages or use any internet based applications (such as steam in online mode :( ). So when I ran the diagnostic test it says that my computer was fine but the DNS server wasn't responding. This just started happening this morning even though it worked fine last night

So I ran Avast, and Malwarebytes, and CCleaner, and Spybot S&D. They detected nothing and it still didn't work. Then I rebooted my router. Didn't work. Then I reset my router to factory settings and redid everything to make sure there was no issue. And it still didn't work.

I am kind of lost and stuck. I tried to run a tracert command to google.com and 8.8.8.8 as suggested in the networking section. And it just came back with general failures.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Gabe

Edit: The card is a wireless network adaptor. Also, every other device on the network works (I am writing this on my laptop)

Have you tried going into the command prompt and typing in "ipconfig /flushdns"?

After that restart your computer.

Means your router isn't working correctly with the modem. The DNS cannot grant you any IP in the valid range of possible IP addresses it can "give" to connected devices so that's why it doesn't work.

Might check if they both are alive ( Router and modem ) and try a few resets.

That could be it. Its just weird because every other device on the network works
