Hyper-visor?

So I am current attending school, I have seen low power PC around the campus that remotes to a sever and like streams the OS from a hypervisor, I do not know what it is called but I would like to learn more about it and google is not much help to help me find what im trying to leard.

Any good free brands out there? any beginner stuff to learn? I do have a vSphere 6.5 key, does that have support it?

I assume so, VMware did popularize the term.

I only have experience with Citrix, but there seems to be a few of them out there.

There Ctirix Xendesktop, VMware Horizon (I think) and others.

As an FYI for the future, those "low power PC's" are called either a Zero Client (direct connection to the server with NO local resources) or a Thin Client (very little local resources but has some storage to make connections a little more snappy and after being retired, can be used for low-end HTPC's in most cases)
