Hi guys. I want to build a pc for my brother and I don't really know about editing because I only play games. I would like to know you guys suggestions, what is the best budget cpu for BASIC video editing such as movie Maker, filmora and lightworks. He'll just do a 1080p traveling video. Not like a content creater. I was thinking to buy ryzen 3 2200g. Is that will do for basic editing?

this will be the best choice.

remember to get a decent mobo and 3000mhz ram (these things are so cheap these days there is no excuse)

ASrock B450m PRO4 and any 4*2 or 8*2 GB kit of DDR4 3000mhz is good.

Does ram speed really have that much difference?

Nope not in the real world.  If you benchmark then yes.  But 2133 or 3000 or 3200,,, same sh*T ,,,,, maybe 2fps more.  What is important is the RAM latency.  If I bought a 3200Mhz RAM I would downclock it to 3000Mhz and tighten the timings.

Asus Sabertooth x79 / 4930k @ 4500 @ 1.408v / Gigabyte WF 2080 RTX / Corsair VG 64GB @ 1866 & AX1600i & H115i Pro @ 2x Noctua NF-A14 / Carbide 330r Blackout

Scarlett 2i2 Audio Interface / KRK Rokits 10" / Sennheiser HD 650 / Logitech G Pro Wireless Mouse & G915 Linear & G935 & C920 / SL 88 Grand / Cakewalk / NF-A14 Int P12 Ex
AOC 40" 4k Curved / LG 55" OLED C9 120hz / LaCie Porsche Design 2TB & 500GB / Samsung 950 Pro 500GB / 850 Pro 500GB / Crucial m4 500GB / Asus M.2 Card

For Ryzen it does somewhat. More for APU and 3000mhz is so cheap there is no reason to not buy it. Even for the cheapest systems there is no excuse

Do you live near microcenter? If you do, see if the manager will give you the motherboard combo discount on the ryzen 5 1600. Some will and it's $99. They won't do it on the 2200g. You will need a cheap GPU. You can get an rx 460 for $50 - $60 on Ebay.  This will cost about $50 more than a 2200g without a gpu but you will have a much more powerful system.

For ryzen systems it does, but even if you don't get fast ram you can run it at a faster speed while loosening the timings. This will give you better performance.
