Why didnt u ask before u bought?

This is a really pointless question because:

A) you can just find out because you have the hardware

B) if you have to ask you really didn't know what you purchased.

 

Short answer yes, buying mind bogglingly expensive hardware will get you good frames, but it really helps to check before you buy. You can ask next time right here on the forum, there are loads of people happy to answer. We'll help you avoid a bad buy, just in case.

doesn't the B-chipset limit you to 2666mhz RAM?

Nah, overclocking ram can always be done above motherboard spec.

your choice of parts is kinda dumb in my opinion

1.you bought an overclockable cpu with a motherboard that cant overclock

2.your gpu is very underpowered for your cpu

Yes that is a big drawback of this CPU and motherboard combo.

How do you manage this? Everywhere I read says it just runs at 2666, and you can fiddle with timings, and at most a 102.5mhz bclk

Serious question, don't know much about B-series boards.

On Ryzen boards the "limit" is 2933 and for most Intel spec the max is 2400, and that's obviously violated all the time. I haven't personally overclocked on a B360 board but all the ram OCs that I've done have been above the supported spec, unless they've locked it down I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed.

 

Edit: after a quick search I've read that B360 doesn't support xmp, but my brother's B250 does, so that's even stranger.

These were not reasonable choices imho.

 

ROG Strix series GPU-s are incredibly overpriced. I'm sure you'd have been able to get a 2060 for that price.

The Mobo does not support OC-ing (cpu-s with "k" designation), neither those RAM speeds.

 

I think you should have gone with 2060, a Z-series motherboard, a slightly cheaper ram (there is really not that much advantage of 3400 compared to 3000, whereas the latter is much more cheaper..) And you could have probably saved afew bucks on the cpu.

 

Have you actually bought them? If not, try to cancel the order. And order a different pack.

Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro & Aorus Elite, Gigabyte Z390 GAMING X . The former two are good price-2-performance ratio boards, the latter is a bit more espensive, but great.

 

I guess you'll use an unlocked k-series CPU then. Let us know about your choices, and feel free to ask before committing : )
