For the MoBo, pretty much like you said, it's a good board, I want it to last a long time

M.2 SSD just for the ease of less cable management but I'll have a look into the exact one you recommended.

(There is also no HDD because I have my own 3TB one)

I've changed the 8gb kit to a 16 one. I'm making sure to use 3000MHz because Ryzen likes dem Hertz

The PSU is kind of a future proof thing. I don't want to cheap out on a PSU and the wattage is just for the fact of not worrying about what I can or can't put inside it and overclock headroom on GPU's or if I feel confident enough to OC the CPU

there also is a m.2 version of the mx500, but then you should also look into the p1

most b450 boards are good, this one is good, but not anything special

pure power 11 would be good enough too, but there's nothing wrong to go with a straight power

First thing's first. I live in Australia so all pricing is in AUD

This build will be mostly for GAMING, more specifically 144Hz, though there might be some video editing and photoshop on the side. But very rarely. I will probably watch YouTube whilst playing games if that accounts for anything like RAM or CPU. I would prefer to buy everything from PCCG (PC Case Gear, Australia) So put in perspective both CPU and RAM is expensive. i7 8700 $529 and an 8gb kit of hyperX Fury 2666MHz is $109.

I recently just upgraded our GPU to an Asus Strix GTX 1080 for $500, second hand from a friend (I previously had a 1060 6GB that cost me $450 new during the end of the great 2018 cryptocurrency boom). The price of that card is included in the build so I have $1000 left to spend.

I am currently running with 2 monitors one at 144hz the other at 60hz both are 1080p. 2 monitors is enough for me.

I am most confused about what CPU to buy. AMD or Intel. If Intel is recommended I have absolutely no idea on what motherboard to get. I WILL NOT BE OVERCLOCKING THE CPU!

The preference here is an mATX motherboard with 4 RAM slots, I want to start with one 8GB kit and then upgrade later once I've gained enough money back.

Our current build is from 2012. i7 3700, 8GB corsair vengeance 1333MHz DDR3, (The just bought GTX 1080), 128Gb SSD and 3 HDD.

The SSD is almost full.

I am upgrading from the dated hardware bottlenecking newer and newer GPU's. For example, running BF1 at high preset at 1080p with the GTX 1080 only yields about 75fps if that sometimes...

Since you already have a 1080, everything else is easy and in your budget.  A i7 8700k and 16gb of ram would be fine and should be in your budget.

Try using the PSU Tier List!

How to reset the bios/clear the cmos

My current rig:

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x

Ram: 1x16gb DDR4, 2x8gb DDR4

Storage: 1tb nvme ssd

GPU: gtx 3080

Monitor: 23.8" Dell S2417DG 144hz g-sync 1440p + 27" Acer S271HL 60 Hz 1080p

Keyboard: ducky one I | I SF

Mouse: gpro wireless | glorious model o2 wireless

Sound : beyerdynamic 1990 pro | Monoprice liquid spark (amp) + topping d10 (dac)

I have mocked up a wishlist on PCCG, It reaches $50 over $1000 and only has an i5 8500 and 8gb of 2666MHz RAM. Keep in mind I need a PSU, Case, SSD, Motherboard.

An 8700K on its own is $615.

is there a reason for this? from my experience umart tends to have better deals/cheaper prices/better shipping even

the lists the others provided may go over budget if you went purely pccasegear, however if you went with multiple different retailers then youre paying shipping costs out your A$$

Ryzen 5/7 will be MUCH cheaper and comes with its own cooling solution, and since ryzen 3rd gen is around the corner you can upgrade to that without needing to buy a new mobo, just needs a bios update

mATX motherboard

why?

. I WILL NOT BE OVERCLOCKING THE CPU!

why? if you go amd there is definitely no reason not to

(The just bought GTX 1080), 128Gb SSD and 3 HDD.

does this mean you wont need to buy any storage?

if so then you can go with this and still be well in budget
