Hey y'all,

I'm running low on ideas, and after contacting friend, the internet and my peers, I decided to turn to the LTT forums to find a solution.

It started last week, after using Maya2019 in class and at home for a couple of hours, all seemed fine, until the next day.

My Maya kept crashing on my save file, working in another file or a new one was no problem. Sometimes it would just close, sometimes it would give me a save prompt and then crash, and sometimes it crashed but gave me a crash 'report'.

After trying to fix it, I just bit the bullet and went back to an older save, losing some progress.

All was well until Maya started crashing again, now even while working in new files. I reinstalled Maya, updated everything I could think of, updated my drivers etc, but the problem would still be there.

The next day, I decided to give it another shot. Suddenly, Maya didn't crash anymore, it acted very stable and I was able to finish my assignment + render it! I was happy and relieved.

Gleefully I went on to start on my next assignment, I opened Photoshop and started to get my bearings, until it crashed giving me a crash 'report'.

So now Photoshop started acting just like Maya did, I reinstalled Photoshop and even went back to older versions but nothing helped.

I went back to Maya, but now Maya is acting up again too.

After hours of searching and a lot of trail and error, nothing helps or works, does anyone have any idea what's wrong with my laptop? Did I get hit with a Windows updates that royally fucked up my system?

Please help

Check your RAM with PassMark memtest86 and your drives with Hard Disk Sentinel (trial/free).

Like 191x7 said run memtest or a stability test.  Also do not overclock and what not.  Set BIOS to defaults and let us know what happens.

I ran PassMark memtest86 and it encountered 0 errors, nothing to report on.

Hard Disk Sentinel shows that my C drive (SSD) is at 99% health and my D (HDD) at 100% health.

Are there any other test I might do? I asked another teacher while running the tests and he said pretty much the same "Run some tests like PassMark, and if that doesn't show results, reinstall Windows"
