How to buy phone number online?

I need to buy a phone number online, I don't care from which country, as long as it's cheap = cheaper than Skype $7/month. I'll use it for Whatsapp, I'll not be calling or texting from it.

I don't want a free one!

You can just buy one and get the sim in the post from any network. Or even pick one up from a gas station if you're in a hurry. Get a prepaid then its nothing per month.

Just go to a supermarket/gas station/phone shop and get a PAYG/prepaid SIM card.

It's way easier than buying a phone number online and generally it's a better option if you're going to be using whatsapp with it.
