GFX buying recomendations please!

ItsTworty

Hello, Me and my friend have recently noticed major drawbacks in performane on our "gaming" computers... with major i mean that one of the GPU's commited kamikaze and the other one is trying to find a way out of it's missery.
There for we have come to the logical conclusion to buy new GPU's, but since we are not the most up to date on the graphicscard market we'd like to reach out to a community that knows more about it than we do.

We currently only play games like League of legends, Apex and occationally try out the new CoD or Battlefield games.

The following is a list of the specifications of the computers in question:

Computer 1:
CPU: Intel - Core i7-2600 3.4 GHz Quad-Core Processor

GPU: Sapphire radeon HD 7950 3gb (Dead)
Motherboard: Asus - P8Z68-V ATX LGA1155
Ram: Unknown 8gb 2x4gb 1600 MHz
Power Supply: Corsair - Builder 500 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply
(Will get a upgrade package soon (New cpu, Ram and Motherboard.))

Computer 2:
CPU: Intel - Core i5-6500 3.2 GHz
GPU: Asus GTX 960 2GB
Ram: Corsair Vengence 8gb 2x4gb 2133MHz
Motherboard: MSI Z170A PC MATE (MS-7971)
PSU: Corsair Cs450M

The main reason for reaching out is to get quality information regarding which GPU is best for each system, The budget are for cards in the 300$ price point.

PS. Thanks in advance.

Main PC:
CPU: Intel i9 - 13900k, Cooler: Arctic Liquid Freezer II 420mm

GPU: PowerColor Red Devil RX 6900 XT 16GB,

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Elite,
Ram:
G.Skill Trident Z neo C16 3600Mhz 32GB,

PSU: Corsair HX1000i 80+ Platinum.

SSD: Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB

Case: Fractal Design Meshify 2 XL

A GTX 970 from eBay, or RX 570 from eBay, for both systems would be pretty good. If you want to save even more money, a 1050 ti can usually be had for around $100, good replacement for that 7950.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

a used RX 570 also costs 100$, no point buying a 1050 ti.

OP:

get RX 570s, by far best value rn, especially for new cards. they are under 150$, and crush the 1050 ti.

The 8GB of ram doesn't help the cause also no ssd.  I would do the triple upgrade,  RAM to 16GB and a SSD.  If those two system are stock clocks there will be a bottleneck with a 570 or 580.  But will still be enjoyable experience.

Both systems have SSD's in them sorry for not typing that in the description of the PC's. But the most recommended for both is to buy 16gb RAM and new GPU's?

Oh sweet then.  But you must upgrade to 16GB or your going to get hitches and less RAM cache to speed things up.  Then just grab a AMD 580 for both PC's and you should be good to go.  But note the more powerful the CPU the more frames per second the 580 will give.

Nice, thanks for fast responses :) Will mostly go out and grab 16GB for the I5 system and a 580 8GB, is there any other concerns i should have on that system or do you think that the PSU will handle the load of a new GPU and RAM or am i just superstitious?
And is there something special to look for when upgrading ram or can i just buy another 2 slots of vengence to fill all 4 DIMM's or do i have to buy a set of 2x8GB?

And for the I7 system there will probably be a 570 4gb upgrade since there is a strict budget.

Your PSU is at a sweet spot for your system so no worries there my friend.  As for RAM, if you have 2x 4GB just add another 2x 4GB and all channels will be filled.  Also make sure to buy the same speed RAM and make sure the timings are correct.

Make sure that they aren’t fakes, at least see if the card looks like the right model, and if you are buying thorugh craigslist, ask them if you can stick it in yours or their pc and run gpu-z. Also, stress test with furmark, and make sure it doesn’t crash at stock speed. Then run benchmarks and make sure its within 5% of stock.

Hey i just got the option to buy a brand new XFX 590 8GB Fatboy for about 50$ over any 580, is 50$ worth the upgrade?

Hey, sorry for bother once again. Whilst loading all the parts together on PCpartpicker it says that neither the Motherboard nor the PSU is compatible with the selected graphicscard (Sapphire RX 580 8 GB OC)
It says the following:

  • 1 additional PCI-Express pcie6-pin power connector is needed.
  • Sapphire - Radeon RX 580 8 GB NITRO+ Video Card and Corsair - CSM 450 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply are not compatible.

But a 1060 6GB is compatible and i can buy one of those at the same price, should i go with the Asus 1060 6GB OC instead?
