HDMI Gaming?

nkucz

Hey everybody,

Why does everyone say using HDMI is bad? My graphics card only has three mini HDMI ports and one Display Port! What should I use? I can't find a 23" IPS monitor with a Display Port :(

HDMI is fine. It just can't handle what other cables can.

I agree it is an annoying cable, always comes undone :(

i dunno, the connector sucks, the bandwidth sucks, sometimes it has weird connection issues (at least my experience when i used it with amd cards).

1) No looking connector. Instant hate achieved.

2) Can't carry much data. Mucho hate from 4K and 120 Hz 1080/1440p users.

3) Too mainstream. So little entusiast. Such little wow.

All the reasons you need to hate it :)

Or wait a sec...

4) Consoles use it...

no, it works just fine. you cant game on anything higher than 60hz/fps and not higher than 1080p (i think) though.

you should buy one with DVI

and Display port can deliver much more bandwidth which you probably dont need anyways.

DVI-I is interlaced digital and analogue, DVI-A is analogue. VGA is not the only analogue interface, and the bandwidth/quality of the cable does make a difference in terms of that interface's capability regardless of whether it is digital or analogue. HDMI cannot do 4K at above 30Hz, nor can it do 1080p or 1440p at above 60Hz iirc, whereas the others can. The locking mechanism thing just adds insult to injury.

It's better in every single way by at least two orders of magnitude. Even the name is better...
