2019 thin n light laptop for editing video Premiere Pro

Hi there

I edit videos with premiere and am looking to get a thin n light to edit on the go when away from the work station at home. My old 5kg Clevo is a back breaker and not ideal for flying with.

Wish list:

  • 2tb ssd 2.5"
  • 1Tb nvme ssd if poss
  • ips screen
  • fastest i7  = 8750?
  • 1070 would do, any benefit of 2070 in future? max Q seems poo?
  • 17" or bigger
  • 3kg ish or lighter
  • 4K UHD would be nice, but I guess I can live with QHD or FHD
  • 16 or 32gb ram
  • I'll use a mouse mostly but great if a big trackpad is included like the gs75 pad

The machines I've been looking at are gs75, strix scar II, alienware m17 and just today looking at pc specialist Recoil II which i guess is a clevo shell.

Would love to get your advice on which level hardware you think I should look out for and which machine would deliver this in your opinion! If you like I can make a review video when i get the laptop of how it handles premiere and games etc.

Cheers, Dave

MSI GS75 Stealth

Get it from HIDevolution with their thermal mod "Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut + Fujipoly Extreme Thermal pads" to mitigate any CPU/GPU overheating issues and your gold.

It has one of the best screens out there and a superb keyboard but no 2.5 inch slot. You get 3 m.2 slots instead as you said you wanted THIN!

Alienware m16 R1 | AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX | SK Hynix 64 GB 5200 MHz DDR5 RAM | GeForce RTX 4090 16 GB GDDR6 | 16" QHD+ (2560 x 1600) 240Hz, 3ms 300-nits Screen | 2x Samsung 990 PRO 4TB SSDs + WD_BLACK SN770M 2TB SSD | Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX210 | Windows 11 Pro

It's a TongFang chassis

they do. I live in Dubai and one of the reasons I buy from them always other than the superb quality is the fact that they have a global warranty option which covers shipping both ways should anything go wrong with your laptop, they will actually send you the courier right at your place to collect the laptop and ship it to them free of charge. Couldn't get more convenient than that. Additionally, you get life time tech support from them for free which is way better than any OEM's internal tech support to be honest.

If you email donald@hidevolution.com you can get a small discount as well.

Thinking about £2200 in sterling. I get 10% discount at del bring a teacher and 5% discount at Dixon's/pc world /Currys.

So I can go to £2500 ish on a alienware.

I've just seen the i9-9980h will be released shortly,  do you know when that will arrive in alienware or msi laptops?
