Sony Laptop Not Working

Hello,

 

I’m trying to fix my girlfriend’s laptop. It turns on, the fans spin and I can hear the hardrive working, but the screen doesn’t show anything apart from tearing and fuzzy lines. I’ve tried connecting to my monitor but still no output. 

 

Any suggestions?

Have you tried to get into the bios?  Hooking it up to an external monitor might require the use of a keyboard function to get an output.
