Hello everyone my name is Daniel from Singapore, I'm new to gaming on pc neither am I a techie. My college introduced me to gaming about a month ago, I did  as much research on how to build a PC as I could via "YouTube" and my "first PC" turned out 'good' or so I was told by the members in here. The college that introduced me to the gaming came over to check out my build yesterday, and said my gpu lacked 'dlss' and 'ray tracing' in my gpu. I got curious what they were so I tried to Google / YouTube research them, with 'dlss' I couldn't really get a specific answer just knowing it a software that's suppose to aid in your GPU's rendering (create the animations for the game) before the next scene,

With "ray tracing" it was about light reflections, light positioning, light effects on game scenes and light after effects. I found that Ray tracing had it's use but in only certain games such as war games (Battlefield franchise), first person shootout games (don't play any so couldn't give an example sorry) otherwise I couldn't see the proper use of ray tracing other then that, it may make the games look prettier but it seriously affects the frame rates of your game and your pocket money. If you're like me a person that play games from the third-party position (world of tanks / warships, racing, WoW, Smite, Dynasty Warriors) I'd suggest you turn it off, if it supports it as you may get better frame rates if you use a good monitor. Although I use a PowerColor RX Vega 56 8gb Red Devil that doesn’t have ray tracing my games that I play look nice enough at 1440p 144hz monitor at 110+ frames, if you intend to get a gpu do look at what games you play or intend to play before you buy a card.

You could save your funds for better cards for later on because at the moment Ray tracing isn't really fully implemented as I found that about only three games have or may have intention of implementing ray tracing, in Singapore the 2000 series start at the sgd$800(usd$600++) to sgd$2500(usd$1780++) price range, but there are still other good cards out there without Ray tracing such as

GTX 1070TI - 1440p

GTX 1080

GTX 1080ti

Vega 56 - 1440p

Vega 64

RX580 - 1080p

RX570

GTX 1060

1660 (coming soon)

You can still get these cards if you don't intend to use ray tracing but if you need / want ray tracing you have the choice of the 2000 series of cards
