DLSS Someone explain please

Hey guys I get the idea that Nvidia has started using Ray tracing in its games but im stuck on what DLSS does I have read bits and pieces about it but it doesn't give a clear answer since Nvidia has been very scares with the details. If anyone is able to help I would be greatful

It uses tensor cores to guess what a frame should look like based on only part of the information. It's sort a like Anti aliasing. It's actually technically super sampling. DLSS really just means deep learning super sampling.

In short, DLSS is basically a new upscaling technique. It's supposed to upscale games from a lower resolution to a higher resolution (like 1440p to 4k) with minimal loss of quality.

 

However, there are issues with it currently. The FF15 benchmark shows some decent results. It's a bit blurrier than native 4k, but not by much. However, BFV with DLSS is garbage. 80% scaling in BFV looks better and runs better than DLSS.

GN did a video on this, it's very efficient upscaling thats closer to 1800p upscaled to 2160p, not exactly good replacement for TAA (edges), it's 80-85% scaling.
