Friends First Rig

Go to solution Solved by brob,

I thought antec was a good company? and the mobo is just simple no oc or anything, im a high end guy myself (sabertooth 990fx) so I know what u mean

Antec makes some good products. None of which are in the list at the link you provided.

Never thought this would happen, but an Intel build is actually a few dollars less. But nothing except the headset and keyboard is from PCCaseGear. ;)

I'd get a better branded psu and an aftermarket cooler like a 212 Evo or 212x. The Havik 140 is also a great choice if you want to go a bit more higher end.

Also, the seagate barracuda is the same price as the caviar blue but slightly faster.

I'm moving this thread to the New Builds and Planning section.

Where to start, I'll note that those prices are making me cringe pretty bad haha!

Firstly, you can get a full retail version of windows 8 for pennies more. I'd recommend getting a backlit keyboard, esports poseidon ( linus did a review ), it's quite cheap and has blue switches. Trust me, nothing is more annoying than losing keys at night.

It might be suggested that you grab a 990fx board, but if it exceeds budget it's not necessary ( i'm a case in point, and my 8320 is overclocked ). It probably wouldn't hurt to look for a stronger brand with respect to the psu. But generally this is a very nice system, your friend should be happy.

Thanks for the replys, the budget is 1350$ haha so im already a bit overboard on it, in the aftermarket cooler sence hes not doing on overclocking so should it be fine?

Absolutely. It may be a little bit noisy, but it's tolerable.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
