Underclock it and wait for water.

Undervolt. Underclock or just suffer the noise.

was heavily thinking this, because if i overclock to 1100 mhz from 847 i get the exact same temps :S

what could i underclock/volt it too?

Underclock and undervolt will lower the MASSIVE noise and reduce temps.

what clocks would still be acceptable though?

Speaking as somebody who actually owns the thing, just run it stock. For 1080p gaming it's not very loud at all, and it's not as if you can't adjust the fan profile. It does get hot though, but if you're not actively monitoring temps it's out of mind. Personally I can tolerate about 55 percent fan speed.

me too but mine still runs pretty hot then lol :L i need to get my hands on some good fan profiles :o mines currently idling at 73 degrees at 79% fan while stress testing @ 100% load

850-900 mhz

ill try this, currently on 750 mhz lol

Every card is different. Some are only quiet at 600mhz while some are quiet at 950 Mhz.

Clockspeed doesn't matter too much, you only have to lower it if it becomes unstable in games.

As for undervolting, download MSI afterburner or some similar application that supports voltage control. Lowe the voltage a small amount at a time. Test. Repeat if necessary.

Every card is unique so it will take some time and effort to undervolt & underclock successfully otherwise you will see too great a performance hit for your selected voltage.

You also have to consider what temperatures you are comfortable with personally with my 7970s i'm happy with them running at about 95oC max. If you are willing to accept a higher temperature threshold you can obviously run the fans at a lower speed.

Basically you just have to keep tweaking 'till you are happy.

Are you using an up-to-date version of afterburner?

Try going unto settings and check the unlock voltage control option.

A reference card should have voltage control capability.

Temps have more to do with voltage and pretty much nothing to do with clock speed.

oh right well thatd make sense.. just thought if i decreased it maybe gpu wont do much work there for will produce less output :L

You could always try an alternative to afterburner.

what temps do you get at 55% because im running at that too still getting 90 degrees while testing

using msi's beta atm which sort of allows me to change voltage but only core and aux voltage

Its core voltage you want to decrease, remember to just decrease it gradually and test. You may have to reduce clockspeed too but it will depend on how far you reduce the voltage.

when i take it back all the way i start getting issues :S only goes back -100 even at -56 i still get 94 degrees at 100% load...

come to think of it, how often will a gpu be at 100% load?
