First PC Build

Since 2011 I’ve been using an old Gateway all in one PC with only 4gb of ram and an underperforming CPU with integrated graphics.

 

Im finally building a new PC this year. I’m going to use it for 144hz 1080p gaming, video editing, and streaming if I can. 

 

I bought an I5 8600k and 16 GB of 3200 MHz ram (it was on sale for 100 at the time). My power supply is a used EVGA Supernova 750 G-2  (probably overkill for my build but it’s too late to return it).

 

I’m still waiting on money for a graphics card but I’m looking for 1070 - 1080 like performance for around $350 USD.

 

The RTX 2060 or the GTX 1660ti are my main choices right now, but I have also been looking at used 1080’s, 64’s, and 1070ti’s. 

 

This is my first build so i’m trying to stay away from used graphics cards though (I don’t know enough to diagnose problems).

 

Any suggestions?

new RTX 2060. best choice for the gpu right now.

2060 or Vega 56 (with Samsung memory) would be your best choices

For 350 2060 i guess, if you think 1660ti would perform as fast, i don't think so.

2060 have 400 more cuda cores, that alone can make a huge difference.

I would personally go for a last gen card. The RTX cards are to pricey because of Ray Tracing. A feature few will ever actually use. Go for a 1070TI, 1080. And if you can, try to find a watercooled one, or a hybrid cooler, so you can overclock it to get better performance.

 

Also, if its not too late, i would return the Intel CPU and MOBO and go for a Ryzen 5 2600X. I normally wouldnt reccomend this, but with your want of streaming and video editing, those extra cores and threads will come in handy. https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-8600K-vs-AMD-Ryzen-5-2600X/3941vs3956

Why? RX 580/570 are better options than GTX 1060/1050 Ti, Vega 56 is cheaper than 2060 in quite a few places and they perform roughly the same overclocked, even power consumption won't be that much higher.
