GTX 1070, I5-4690, asus h97 pro gamer. I've been getting horrible fps drops, and when the fps drops my computer freezes. In World of Warships I'll be at 60 fps, then when pretty much anything happens it will drop to 1-7 fps and freeze, BF5 will drop frames from around 100fps to 50 and freeze, Hearthstone will only max at 31 and drop non stop with freezing. Pretty much any game will drop fps and freeze, then I usually come back dead. What could be the problem? Everything is up to date and nothing is covered in dust to cause over heating.

How are you running DDR4 memory when the i5-4690 has a DDR3 memory controller...

Anyways, what are your CPU / motherboard / GPU temperatures like when in-game?

It could be an overheating issue (e.g. thermal throttling).

What CPU heatsink are you using?

When was the last time you removed the CPU heatsink, cleaned off the old thermal paste, and applied a new coat?

Do you dust out the CPU + motherboard area when cleaning your PC?
