Hey

So, I have a Rtx 2080, and an i5 4690k+ddr3 ram and my motherboard only supports ddr3 ram. Obviously, from the cpu-gpu combination I get a big bottleneck. If I want to get like the newest cpu, I have to buy another ram and another mother board right? If that's true, Its pretty expensive to buy a new good processor that wont bottleneck, another motherboard and memory ram.Whats the best cpu I can get for my pc, keeping in mind my motherboard only supports ddr3 ram? Sorry for my bad english, thanks :)

an I7 4790K would be the best chip that will go in that board, hopefully its a Z97 board too so you can overclock it :)

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

Should be fine for quite a while as long as you are focusing on high resolution gameplay, not high refresh gaming

i5-14600KF // 120x38MM Cooler Master AIO // B760i // 64GB DDR5 6000 // PNY RTX 5070 // Cooler Master NCORE 100 Max // Cooler Master V SFX-850 Gold // UWQHD AOC Display

Well as long as I have an rtx, I would want my games to run in 60fps+ all the time on ultra settings. Would it work ? :))

def.

i was thinking, if you are looking for 1080p 144+fps gaming it would be a bit harder with your chip in newer games.

60fps is going to be easy to get most of the time, and the higher the resolution the more it hands load to the GPu rather than cpu
