I have my Linux server in my sig, wanna know if a second CPU would help for running a Minecraft server. 1366 Xeons are dirt cheap, and the heat sink I need is only $20, but if there's nothing to gain from it then why bother.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Buy an entire server for 7,000$, add 192TB of storage onto it, set player limit to 4, and then you'll have a somewhat smooth experience.

My friend was running a server with his 5960x, and playing with it at the same time. Since I have more ram and cores free I feel like it would be better, but also I've not tested with a player count higher than 2 yet

/fill 0 0 0 32 32 32 tnt

/setblock 32 33 32 redstone_block

Good benchmark

Ryzen 7 3700X / 16GB RAM / Optane SSD / GTX 1650 / Solus Linux

One of my buddies hosts a server from an 8700K(while using it) and we have no problems with up to 10 players.

Worth noting that players are memory-intensive, not CPU intensive; each player(as long as they're not close to each other) will take up 200MB or so of memory.

If you've got 6 cores and 12 threads, you should be pretty good in terms of CPU power for a Minecraft server.

That didn't fully occur to me xD

There usually isn't much reason for upwards of 1 CPU for just a standard SMP server.
