gaming build with school productivity

BackyardBB

Im looking to purchase a new cpu, mobo and ram to upgrade my i5 4690. However Im stuck currently wether I want to get an i5 9600k or ryzen 2700x. currently I play a decent amount of games such as Skyrim(modded), Rust, CSGO, GTAV ETC. I also do a lot of work for school which involve tasks using programs such as Microsoft Suite, unity, Visual Studio etc.

What would be the best CPU for me to get

Ryzen build -

Intel Build -

For this comparison, 9600K will beat the 2700X in most games, but gets pretty wrecked in workstation loads. I personally would hold on upgrading and pick up the new Ryzen line.

Current Desktop Build | 2200G | RX 580 4GB | 8GB RAM | CTRL | Logitech G Pro Wireless

Laptop | 2018 MBA 256/16GB | MX Master

Buy the 2700X and if 3rd Gen Ryzen ends up being any better for you, you can always just upgrade later. No point in waiting unless you can afford to wait.

What this person said ^^^^^^^^^. When the new gen comes out its not like a 2700x will all the sudden be worthless, you can always resell and buy a gen 3 if you want, if not I am sure the 2700x will stand up to whatever you wanna do based on your list
