Upgrade to do what?  Give specifics or you're going to get info for a very generic upgrade (of anything).  What does it not do now that you want to try to solve for up to $500?

I mean for a better gaming experience in general. All that stuff is relatively old and I think it's time to get something upgraded

I play mostly graphically intensive games like BFV.

I'd probably sell the graphics card and buy a new one for around $650 (or 500 + whatever you sell it for). Should get a pretty nice performance bump.

Unless you see strong indications of CPU bottleneck (which you might seeing as your CPU is the exact one listed for "recommended" CPU for Battlefield V, meaning it just barely hurdles that bar) I'd consider dropping the entire budget on a serious GPU upgrade like an RTX 2070.  Do you have a G-Sync/Freesync monitor?  What's it's refresh rate?

it's 75hz 21:9 with that new freesync on nvidia cards thing

The i7-4790K is still very capable of gaming, so I'd upgrade the graphics card. 
Unless your really eager for an upgrade, I'd leave the system as it is for at least another year.

It doesn't, a poster suggested using a PCIe card to adapt an NVMe drive to work.  You aren't as confused as you think you are (lol).

maybe an RTX 2060 and a 1080p 144hz monitor, the 4790k is still fine for games.

I was thinking of the same card, although in a battle between having 144hz, and having that 21:9 aspect ratio; there is no way im switching lol
