Controlling Radiator Fans Using GPU

I recently set up a custom loop and my radiator fans are currently being controlled off the CPU temp via the bios (CPU fan header to a PWM fan hub). I am now looking to integrate a GPU block into the loop and I was wondering what options I have for controlling the vans based on the GPU temp. I have been looking at reviews/teardowns for GPU blocks and it looks like the GPU's PWM fan header is usually covered by the block. I have not found any good forum posts on this subject so far while looking on line so I am interested if anyone has any advice on this matter and what others have done in the past (is there a way to accomplish this through Afterburner or a similar program, etc.).

 

My setup if it helps: R7 2700x with waterblock, 3x120mm rad (40mm thick) with 3 PWM fans, D5 pump.

There is a software out there called Argus Monitor that will allow you to do this. I personally use it and it works wonderful. It is a paid program, but it is worth it IMO since Speedfan is dead and no other options in the software environment has really stepped up beyond Argus.

do you have a temp sensor header on your motherboard? the best way to control fans is based on the water temp. and the pump can be controlled by the CPU temp.

as for fans from the GPU, it is possible, but you will have to remove the waterblock in order to get access to the fan header on the pcb (it should be there) by the size of the card it look like MSI uses its Gaming X Trio pcb on this card. usually they do not remove the fan header even if they put waterblock on it. You will also need an adapter (just google VGA PWM adapter) and a fan splitter (better to get one with 12 volts power)
