Dug up some old pics of a scrap PC I made, thought I would share

Started with an old 775 Optiplex, only supported single core Pentiums tho. I bought a core 2 quad but since it was incompatible I decided to put it to good use. Grabbed a cheap 775 motherboard:

And threw this together with some spare DDR2 I had on hand. This version had a GTX 760 windforce, not bad at all. Glued it a bit to fix the shroud, and actually flipped it later for a decent profit of like $15.

The CPU heat sink is an old server thing, it had some freaky mounting but it was so heavy I just left it on top and mounting pressure all came from weight. Thing was effective too, but strangely blew air up instead of down. Added my own fan there for VRM/northbridge cooling.

Friend had an M4000 lying around, actually did worse in games than any gaming cards (probably because i'm a fool with drivers).

Eventually it found its way into a case, and this thing is basically perfect for a 2013 budget gaming PC. c2q 6600, 8Gb DDR2, GTX 760 (later upgraded to a 1050 ti, and then a 680 when I wanted to reuse the 1050 ti).

It had an SSD and I tossed in a modern PSU, and then sold the beast. Actually got scammed (bum trade for old macbook, should've been more careful), then the guy said it broke (sparks inside, wtf?) which I felt bad for my poor creation, it had some promise. Didn't feel bad for the guy though.

This thing was fun to throw together, serious vintage hardware and I would have actually loved to have owned it as a first gaming PC, in lieu of my mid 2009 iMac, not that I didn't appreciate my dad getting me a brand new computer when he did.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.
