Sorry I totally miss read what monitor you have and those profiles are not specifically for yours but maybe you can find some on that site or info that could help you out.

You might just not be used to how vibrant an IPS is I was pretty shocked even watching a youtube video at 1440p on my wifes benQ going back to my tn right after I was upset haha.

I just looked at my Asus monitor trace free setting and its at 60 (MG248Q TN).

Yeah plugged my old monitor back in and tried the ufo test and some gaming on it, it has terrible colors compared to my new IPS screen and it also has the same ghosting/corona problem, not as noticable though but it's probably cus the colors are so washed out on there, basically no contrast. So my new screen isn't 100% perfect but my old one was definitely not better xd i don't think i'll be able to switch back to a TN screen after using IPS for only a week

So about a week ago i got my new monitor, an Asus VG279Q (144hz IPS 1ms, that's what is says on the site at least) but after a few days of playing on it i noticed some reverse ghosting (white glow behind objects moving) or ghosting when i changed around with the "Trace free" setting. i put it on 80 now and it's a lot better but i can still see it a tiny bit. Should i replace it with another asus monitor i found? a VG278QR which is an 165hz 0.5ms TN panel or am i just thinking too much about it?

So i guess my question is does an IPS panel have worse ghosting/corona effect (inverse ghosting) than a TN panel?

If its easy to exchange (incase it is flawed) it couldn't hurt.

But have you tried doing any monitor calibration maybe your settings are just way off?

I would try going and messing with the settings. I had a setting on my 240hz that was something like ultra fast response and it caused huge ghosting issues but when I turned it to high instead the issue was gone. Granted if you move super fast in game you still see afterimages but that is normal just like you will see mouse afterimage if you move it super fast on your desktop.

The website i bought it from (a swedish pc hardware site) have really good return policies, i have 60 days to return it so there's no rush but it's not a flawed display, but i don't know if it's something normal on displays, this is only my 2'nd high-end display. So i'm kinda wondering if i should return it and try a faster display but with TN instead of IPS or if it doesn't really matter and i still get the weird white ghost behind fast mocing objects

i've done some monitor calibration and the only setting that changes the effect is the "trace free" and it's basically overdrive on the monitor, been messing around with the settings and there's not really a specific setting i've tested in the last few days that get rid of all the motion blur/coronas completely

Yeah i've tried a bunch of different settings, none completely remove the issues but i have overdrive (trace free on asus) at 80% now and it's better than the others but i still get a slight corona/white ghost effect behind fast moving objects ingame

TN panel will be worse.. especially for blacks I have a Asus TN panel monitor and the colors are horrible in comparison to my wifes Benq IPS display.   I have the Asus MG248Q.

http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/  Might have some info that can help you.

Checkout:

http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/asus_rog_swift_pg279q.htm

They will talk about calibration and what settings they found to be best, this really helped me out when setting up my monitor.  They even have downloadable color profiles that have been made using a monitor calibration instrument.  Worth a try to get the best out of your display.  By the looks of it that should be a really nice gaming monitor.

Hope this helps.

Thanks man, i'll try these color profile's but it's more the response time overdrive rather than the colors on the screen that confuse me. With high overdrive i get a white ghost behind fast moving objects (corona effect) or when i have lower overdrive setting there's ghosting on the screen. I'll compare it to my old 144hz TN tomorrow and see if i'm just being crazy xd

Sorry I totally miss read what monitor you have and those profiles are not specifically for yours but maybe you can find some on that site or info that could help you out.

Yeah i have it on 80 right now, most people said they use 60. I'll need to try both out more ingame, but i realized i had the same options on my old monitor (benq xl2411z) but it's called "AMA" in the settings there, so not sure if i just didn't notice it before with a TN panel or if it's worse on this one
