Hi everyone.

This is my 1st post and im indecisive as what to do.

Im currently using an old dell 9010 with 8gb ram and a i5 3570 cpu.

As its the smaller version i have a 120gb ssd in place of the dvd drive and replaced the 500gb hdd with a 2tb model, im unable to fit anymore hdds in this case.

Now i use this for plex.. watching on my phone, smart tv or xbox the cpu is barely taxed however from another pc in the home its about 30% utilised and this is all at 1080p.

I got an inwin chopin for cheap and so unsure if to go latest intel or ryzen wait for new ryzen or just get a cheap 1155 board and new cooler.

Based on how its being utilised atm i could go for the cheapest latest cpu however i dont know if there is something im missing.

Since the inwin can only take two 2.5 drives i have snagged a deal on a 4tb seagate portable that im going to disect and put in. The other bay could be used for the ssd if i just get a new board or another drive later and use m.2 on a new board.

Sorry for the wall of text ;)

Sorry for the double post but another question.

As the chopin doesnt fit a gpu would i be able to use for example a ryzen 5 2600 and a cheap gpu on a test bench. Install all i need and then install and boot without the gpu in the chopin.

Ive never attempted this before so wanted to ask rather than waste money tryin.

  • 4 weeks later...

So i jumped the gun..

My new plex server consits of

Inwin chopin

Msi b450i

Ryzen 2400g

Noctua nh l9

128gb m.2 ssd

4tb seagate portable (taken apart) for storage.

I had some issues when putting together.. front panel wires are slightly short. Usb n headphone cables wayyy to long and unable to mount a 2nd drive with the cables properly into the dvd caddy.

Ive seen mods online for someone making room for a gpu.. however none for a aio..

Ive done a slight mod in preperation..
