hello I'm going to be making a router just for a single user vpn and was wondering if anyone ever heard of hoodisk msata ? are they reliable?

I'm going to be using this hoodisk msata only because the first one is sold out, if the hoodisk isn't any good then I'll get the apu 30gb version.

thanks in advance!

also i will be connecting this vpn router after the switch. will this even work? will i have to disable dhcp in this new pfsense vpn router?

or am i going about this all wrong? should i setup a more powerful vpn router after unify gateway and then tell the devices after the switch to point to the vpn? if so how??

Um... without knowing the why behind your project, I'd say you're going about it wrong. Why build a dedicated pfSense router just for single user VPN access when your UBNT Gateway already supports configuring VPN right in the controller?

Maybe there's more to your story that will explain why having a dedicated machine just for one user makes sense, but since you already have a UBNT device capable of VPN configuration, I just don't understand.

im trying to get PIA on the unifi switch to encrypt certain devices down the chain. there is a single cat6a line in each room. mistake on my end, should of put more before i closed the walls. anyways i put a basic switch in each room to give the users if they desired more lines.   now the PIA vpn I wanted also im every room before the switch because I can't get the unifi gateway to have PIA without pptp..

Not sure if UBNT supports individual devices, but I know that Advanced Tomato firmware on my Netgear R7000 let's me enable VPN for certain internal IP addresses. That way I can selectively put certain devices through the VPN based on static IP addresses while leaving Netflix streaming devices outside the VPN because Netflix doesn't play nice with VPNs.
