Best 1440p 144Hz monitor between these two

  1. 1. Picture quality is a prio between these two. Quantum Dot VA 144Hz or an excellent IPS 144Hz?

So quick help please. I have (was practically given) an ASUS MX27UQ 4K 60Hz monitor, which is a great monitor, color and resolution wise, but it crashes my RTX 2080 below the 50 fps region. I play normal paced games like Witcher, Darksiders, Mass Effect, stuff like that, nothing like CS:GO, Overwatch or Fortnite... So I want to sell it and move to a 1440p 27" monitor. Samsung C27HG70 ticks all the boxes but I have no clue if the VA quantum dot panel is as good as a similarly priced IPS one, let's say the ASUS MG279Q. Samsung is nVidia Freesync compatible I dunno about the Asus. My prios are picture quality hands down > high refresh rates > all the rest. In paper the Samsung monitor > the Asus one, but it still is VA vs IPS and I don't know if I am losing in picture quality moving to quantum dot VA from an excellent IPS. Thank you in advance for any answer/help.

The Samsung will probably have better color (covers more of the RGB spectrum than the Asus) and it has a better contrast rate of 3000:1 compared to the Asus 1000:1. The Samsung states it has Freesync 2 and the Asus doesn't so I'm assuming it has the original Freesync, although I don't know enough about it to know if that means anything. The Samsung has a curved screen, they both have 350 nits brightness.

They both look like great monitors and IPS is usually the best but I've read that the Quantum Dots are really good. In this scenario, I would decide if you want the curved screen or the flat screen and go from there. If you really want Freesync I think the Samsung will have the better one.

I'm using 4k VA panel with 100% sRGB (according to Acer) and it looks pretty damn good) and 3000:1 contrast, and I have ZERO complaints.
