I have recently got really into streaming, I reached affiliate on Twitch, and is looking to stream more often and some more demanding games.

Therefor my current i5 6600k isen't the best anymore.

What CPU should i get? and what motherboard shall i buy with it?

I have been looking at i7 8700 and Ryzen 2700x but haven't settled on anything.

I'm not looking for the most expensive one, just one around the price point of the two i mentioned. If its a good deal I'm willing to go higher of course.

I have a GTX 1070 if that helps anyone.

Thank you for your time!

When it comes to streaming I will recommend to get a ryzen 7 2700x but in your go with intel I7 8700k as you already have a mobo. If you are a getting good deal on Ryzen7 and mobo then I will strongly suggest you to go with ryzen, if not intel i7 will be fine

OP is probably using a Z170/270 or B150/250 motherboard, which aren't compatible with the i7 8700.

Nope, 6th gen motherboard won't work with 8th gen CPU. 7700k is the best OP could get without a motherboard swap

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Although given Linus' last vid about that motherboard it feels like that should be the case

Thank you all for the reply's everybody. I see alot of people saying the Ryzen is good. Is the cooler that is comming with the Ryzen Box that you can buy good enough? or should i invest in another cooler?

If you dont going to be overclocking it, you will be ok.

The included cooler is good for stock performance but if you would like to overclock decently you'd need to look into something bigger. You may be satisfied with stock though so if you get a Ryzen 7 2700 and you just like the way it performs without a good overclock then no need to buy one.

But it was 8th gen chipset which could run 6th gen processors, not 6th gen chipset which could run 8th gen processors.

Yeah but Intel hardly changed anything, it probably would have been pretty easy to design it the other way around as well.
