Posted January 30, 2019 So I am looking to upgrade... pretty much everything about my PC in the near future. And my display setup is obviously part of that. I'm unsure wether I should go for a single big ultrawide (4k res) or multiple 16:9 monitors (also 4k). They will be used mainly for gaming, but I'll also be programming on them and doing some productivity stuff (office and the likes). I really like the asthetics of having a single big monitor, but multiple smaller ones would allow me to segment the stuff I'm working on more easily. So yeah, please vote and leave your opinions below, I'm also very much open to suggestions. There's no real budget constraints, it'll just take me a bit longer to get the monitors. Cheers 75% of what I say is sarcastic So is the rest probably Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/1027682-one-ultrawide-or-multiple-normal-monitors/ Share on other sites
 Posted January 30, 2019 Ultra wide for programming is a game changer, I'm so happy with mine. It doesn't make sense until you spend time with one, but you are so much more efficient on one screen vs 2. Posted January 30, 2019 I use a 3440 X 1440 ultra wide. It is no substitute for 2 16:9 monitors. Two or three 16:9s are no substitute for an ultra wide. That is why I have a 21:9 setup and a 16:9 setup. My pure gaming rig is ultra wide and my 16:9 rig used a 4k 60hz monitor and 1440p 144hz monitor. I say used because my Son as borrowed my 144hz monitor to play Fortnite. If he gets hooked I my never get it back.
