Hey Guys,

First I have to state that I am a newbie to the PC world.  Ended up having to incorporate a PC for 3D modeling and rendering and while it was a somewhat difficult process building my first PC, I did get through it and have had it running for about a year now.  As a digital creative, I have TONS of files scattered on TONS of hard drives over the last 15 years.  I have several backups on several drives for redundancy because, as we all know, externals will fail.  So here is my problem I'm hoping someone here can help me out with.

I currently have two 5TB drives in my PC with another 5TB on the way to make 15TB total.  Only one 5TB is filled up.  I'm looking to build a complete back up solution that puts me at ease with all the work I do, because the last thing a client wants to hear is, "Sorry, all your files were lost."  I'd like to be able to not only back up the pc but preferably looking for a solution that I can plug in all my other externals (probably about 20 or so with various amounts of storage) that I have piled up and it automatically either syncs, replaces, skips or merges the files with whichever is the newest one.  I would then like that storage solution to be backed up to a cloud so I have that optimum in-house backup and off-site backup.  I was looking at back blaze so it could sync between my mac and pc, but up for any suggestions.  I think I probably have about 20 or so TB's of data currently so I want a solution that can be expandable as I grow as well.  Trying to make it as future proof as I can.  I was looking at the Synology 4 bay's and thinking of putting 4 10TB hard drives in it each, but again, any solution is welcomed.  So in short, I'm looking for the following.

In-House storage needs:

1.) Plug in and automatically will back up existing hard drives (mostly mac) that will either sync, replace, skip or merge files.

2.) Set automatic nightly system backups from my PC.

3.) Simple to use and reliable.

4.) A capacity of about 40TB

5.) Expandable

Off-Site storage needs:

1.) Can backup and sync files from the NAS attached to the PC as well as files from my mac.

2.) Ability to see different versions.

3.) Expandable

Lastly, what is the ball park price point?  Any help is greatly appreciated!

Im in a similar situation, but only use 1 PC, so my backup situation was a little easier, but the process would be the same.

I built another system using cheap Mobo and CPU, a raid controller and 6 8TB hdds, setup in raid 10. My main system has dual gb lan ports, so I have it directly conntected via a patch cable which runs on a separate network than my home network. I would have put in a 10gb network card if I needed constant access, but I don't.

Everything is scheduled to monitor certain folders on that data drives on my PC and run backups every weekend if the files have been updated at any time.  I forget which software I used, I'm currently on my phone but I know I didn't buy it, it was free.

I only use cloud storage for active projects, as I find that eaiser than USB drives between my laptop and desktop as I put the raw files on both from the start.

I just found it was much eaiser to build a raid storage system than buy an off the shelf model.
