Upgrading Laptop Storage

I want to upgrade my laptops storage as it has a 500gb 5400rpm HDD in it but am wondering if I should go for a 120gb SSD or a 240gb SSD I would go higher but cost does matter, also I don't game on it or have many programs installed so a lot of storage isn't a big deal to me.
