Directory issue

How do I fix an issue where my documents, downloads, 3d objects, desktop, etc, all are dumping everything in the same location. So everything can be seen on my desktop.

You've probably screwed up your library folders.

 

Use Windows + R,  and type in regedit.exe.

 

 

Now navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders in the top area.

 

 

Now look at the entries that are called My Pictures, My Videos, etc., to their respective folders.

 

To do so, right click on the name, and click Modify.

 

 

Now change the location under Value Data to your preferred location.

 

 

Lastly, restart. You will need to move all of the files to the new location, but that should be it.

Thank you for your help! I got it most of the directories fixed. This issue I'm having now is I guess the "system folders"(not sure what to call them) merged or something so they all stay in the same directory no matter what I do. Any ideas?
