So I've been wanting to upgrade from my GTX 970 for a while, but didn't find the value in the pascal cards. This time around the rtx 2060 looks quite promising. Benchmarks on youtube show that it is almost on par if not even the same as a 1080 which is freaking awesome for just 350 bucks . I am really keen on getting one, but I'm not sure if my system would hold it back from performing its very best in heavy titles or even be compatible for this matter. Do you guys think its a right way to go? if so what brand? MSI, EVGA, or Gigabyte? Are there any differences in performance or cooling?

 

My system:

intel core i7 4790k

msi z97 gaming 7 motherboard

16GB DDR3 ram 2 x 8 2133mhz

860 pro 500 GB 

4 TB WD black series

750W EVGA PSU

Primary PC:

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

 

How many watts do I need? ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained, group reg is bad

Depends on the res and games. I use a 4790k and 1080 to play old stuff like bf4, only things it can keep up with properly for me. 

Main RIg Corsair Air 540, I7 9900k, ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero, G.Skill Ripjaws 3600 32GB, 3090FE, EVGA 1000G5, Acer Nitro XZ3 2560 x 1440@240hz 

 

Spare RIg Lian Li O11 AIR MINI, I7 4790K, Asus Maximus VI Extreme, G.Skill Ares 2400 32Gb, EVGA 1080ti, 1080sc 1070sc & 1060 SSC, EVGA 850GA, Acer KG251Q 1920x1080@240hz
