semi-downgrade plan

so I guess I wont sell this computer thanks for talking me out of it, Im just stressed thats all

So times have gotten a bit tough. and I also realize I dont use my computer  for a lot of gaming, in fact most of the time I am on youtube  or listening to music, now I do do some gaming  but I have an xbox one and I game on that more.
so what I am considering is selling this computer for 600-800 dollers and my friend said he would give me a  sff dell optiplex 5050 for free it just needs ram. and then over time Id upgrade it

 

 I plan on getting a:

gtx 1050 ti

core i5 7500

16 gb of ram

 

I would also upgrade the power supply to 300 watts ((they are sold on ebay)

does that sound like a good plan or am I just crazy ?

Your crazy, let me explain.  A i5 7500 would be better off paired with a 1060 6GB which is soo cheap now and pownz the 1050Ti.  Your cpu will do the job, but it would be nice if you can overclock it as that makes a huge difference.... If you need help overclocking it when you get it let us know,, don't be shy lol

I have the same feeling though. Having the best all the time is fun and all but sometimes it would be easier to hack and mod a $100 GPU than a $600 one

the thing Ive realized I dont need the best ! I built this computer in 2013 thinking Id be gaming like crazy when all I do  is play some games  (the most damanding is witcher 3) I would be find with 1080p and I dont need  a 1070ti to do that 

 

also this computer is damn heavy I HATE moving it around I want something lighter

maybe but I dont have the money to build a new computer, remember I mentioned Id be getting the SFF computer FOR FREE. I need this money for food,bills, etc I also have some medical issues that make working consistantly hard. and I have no other income

Honestly you are getting ahead of yourself. Computers sell slow and hold next to no value. Around here realistically you would get 250-400 for the system in your sig.

 

The other point sff usually doesnt support full height cards, and dell proprietary motherboards are some of the hardest to modify to work in a standard case.

 

I mean if you want to do it go for it, but it's not going to make alot of sense financially.

I know, that dell ssf would only support half height cards I would get a  1050ti sc

Idk, Im in a bit of a tight situation, I can only handle 15 hours a week, I have a hard time  consistantly working and I have no other income. Im not selling this because I  really want to. Im just trying to make the best of my situation.

does anyone have a better idea ?
