BIOS Update Needed?

ive heard some stuff about some BIOS updates being needed for builds that dont have 990FX MoBo's and i was wondering that if i got a FX-6300 and a 970 MoBo, would  i need a BIOS update? or is this only with the 'New Vishera' FX processors?

You have to update, but there's not much you can do if it's a new build.

I would read reviews of the motherboard that you plan to get to see if it supports it out of the box as you would need another cpu to POST it in order to do a bios update if it doesn't support your fx6300.

It's a 970 Chipset so it will support FX out of the box.

 

When the board posts see what bios version it has then check to see what the latest(non beta) bios version is and update it.

just be sure to have a usb stick with the newest bios in case you start your pc and it doesn't work ( it happened to me when i got the fx 8350)
