it security Laptop/PC for security guy

Hello, one of my neighbours is going to start studying masters in cyber security in some university. He wanted to know about the kind and specification he should look for when he's going to purchase a laptop/pc. Can anyone help? Thanks

He should probably base that decision on his curriculum. Check the course descriptions and see what software they'll be working with.

But my guess is he'll probably want a quad core CPU and plenty of RAM and storage for virtual machines.

His curriculum does not say anything about the software. There are however Unit names (for example network security, scripting language, ethical hacking, digital forensics), but nothing about software on the website.
