Hello i have a MSI GL63 8RD laptop with following specs
Intel i7 8750H
GTX 1050Ti

8GB Ram

Problem is my gpu doesnt go above 1493Mhz in games.

I ran Heaven Benchmark 4.0 (High Settings) and it went to 1732Mhz like it should with respectable temps (70C)

But when playing games like dota 2, it doesnt boost to higher frequency thus leading lower fps.

Any help will be appreciated

Things i have checked :
#1 My settings are set to prefer max performance in nvidia control panel and in windows settings

#2 Its not a heating problem as it stays well under 70C

what's the temp in Dota?

Temps in dota are like 60C

also since it's a laptop it's probably power starved so that's why it's running at a lower clock, because the CPU is also being used, while in Heaven Benchmark the CPU is not used at all.

I have my processor undervolted with a 0.145V using intel XTU.

I also undervolted my GPU today but it didnt help at all. (It doesnt go above base clock without undervolt either, Undervolting helped temperature wise and all)

Hmm interesting i increased my ingame graphics settings and now its sitting at 1700 Mhz. WUTFACE

What fps are you getting in games?

Do you have vsync/g-sync/fps limit on?

I only see your reply if you @ me.

Could it be something like it doesnt boost until a usage percentage?

Yes, if the game doesn't utlilize the gpu, then the gpu wont boos. The just of it is that the fps is locked to 60fps, and it doesnt go over that, to save power.

V-sync does that, and nvidia build in fps limiter also does it.

It is nothing to worry about, saving power is kinda vital in a laptop.

Hmm that is understandeable but there are some titles which dont utilize much of the gpu but that lower base clock hurts my fps for example csgo. i cant get more than 70 fps and considering these specs, i should get way more.
