Hello,

I have posted many topics on my thoughts and ideas on building a High End Gaming PC. I have been researching and interchanging parts until I got this which is what I want to talk about:

CPU - Intel Core i5 4670k 4-Core @ 3.4GHz 6MB Cache (Socket 1150)

MOBO - MSI Z87 G43 w/ PCIe 3.0, 4x Memory Slots and Socket 1150
RAM - Kingston HyperX Beast 8GB  2x4GB DDR3 2133Mhz
GPU - Asus GeForce GTX 770 2GB GDDR5 Direct CUII
HDD - Western Digital 2TB 7200RPM (Mass Storage mainly)

DVD - Samsung iHas 24x DVD Writer/Drive
PSU - Corsair Builder Series CX750 Watt PSU

CASE - Cooler Master HAF 912 Full ATX Case

OS - Microsoft Windows 64bit

WIFI - Asus 300Mbps Wifi Card

Basically, if in the future I get other components such as new RAM, Hardrive etc. I am wondering if this will be a high end gaming PC:

Future Components -

SSD - For booting etc. Kingston 250GB+ 2.5" SSD Drive

RAM - Just a nice upgrade - 16GB (get another 2x4 set)

CPU - Most likely an i7, either a 4-Core or even a 6-Core.

Please let me know if this build overall would be very good for intense gaming on the highest settings (I wont be recording) and bare in mind I will upgrade to a SSD and HDD as soon as I get the money.

Thanks.

Looks fine but you won't need a i7 in the future if you're just gaming.

Buy an SSD and you can cut down on your PSU aswell, around 500W should suffice.

dont build a pc that u already plan to upgrade. your just gonna end up wasting alot of money

if u want those future upgrades wait till u can incorperate them in your build.

I see where you are coming from. However, with my budget (£950) at 15yrs old and the fact PC Gaming is mostly about upgrading in the future for better performance/FPS/quality I think I will be fine.

I'd consider saving until you can afford the SSD.

It's just a pain in the ass to swap an OS from drive to drive.

Do you need the optical drive? Can save some coin there towards the SSD.

well an i7 wont give u better gaming performance

16gn of ram will literally do nothing

pretty much your only legit future upgrade is the SSD which im sure u can save up for

every year intel releases a new platform so upgrading so soon doesnt really make sense either. trust me there is no reason for this other than wasting money so u can get something slightly earlier.

honeslty the system u have plus and SSD is a really good gaming PC

the only thing u should upgrade is the GPU if you can because the brings actual performance increase

this is my opinion:

get either a 280x or a 290 with an aftermarket cooler

get a seagate barracuda 2tb. it's cheaper and it does the same thing

that ram frequency is too damn high. please save some money and get a normal 1600/1866 kit. please

8320+990fx chipset mobo+hyper 212 evo

and with the saved money you can afford an 840 evo

To answer all the questions/replies:

I will be gaming on my 24" 1920x1080 Monitor.

I think 8GB of RAM is fine, 16GB may in the future not happen, just a thought.

I feel at about £70 a 750W is fine and a 500W is more of a budget even though it will never need 750W.

(I will also look into the RM 750)

Its £9 more for 2133MHz than 1600MHz.

To be honest, I'm not bothered if it takes 30 minutes if my PC/Game starts up - I will buy a SSD later (well ASAP)

Thank you for the detailed reply. I see what you mean and totally believe it, but I still need a bit of the money so I will definitley think about the SSD option everyone is talking about.

Yes grab a SSD right from the beginning. Just save some Money by getting a bit slower Memory(DDR3 1600MHz). Also a GTX 760 is totally fine for 1080p Gaming.

Thinking about it, as said before I still need a bit of the money so I will take this into account. Also, £9 for 2133MHz isn't saving much money  and I think a 770 is fine as I am willing to spend the money and am sick of lowest graphics at 30FPS and lower...

Take a SSD, you will love it and you will wonter how you could have survived without one! Also I dont see the point in getting 240GB. Im using a Kingston 64GB SSD and its enough for the OS and the important programs.

I recommend getting an RM 750W... And why a Wi-Fi card?

And don't get 2133Mhz memory!

Looks fine for the other parts.

You need a Wifi Card don't you?

np man

btw i run all my games off of my HDD and im ok with that SSD for gaming is overall that much better in most games

its more for the OS and gemneric programs.

a 120gb ssd might be worth looking into. i have one and im pretty content with it space wise

Thanks. I will really look into the SSD and I wont be getting a big one. You don't need mass storage for just game start ups and OS start up.

Yeah, for the extra speed and for the price for the 120GB or 128GB at like £80 on average... Its definitely an option for me now.
