PC making strange sounds

Hi everyone,

 

I realized while playing AC Odyssey that my computer was making quite a loud crackling noise and even a slight popping sound which seemed to get worse when under load. Now that I know of it I can hear it during boot up as well.

 

I listened closely and heard a lot of crackling coming from my HDD and so I replaced it. Only for the new one to be making the exact same sound so the problem is not the Hard Drive.

 

My Specs:

GTX 1050 Ti 4GB   (GPU)

AMD Ryzen 3 2200G (CPU)

Asus Prime b450M-A  (Motherboard)

8GB ddr4 RAM

Corsair CX550M (Power Supply)

128GB SSD

1TB Seagate Barracuda Hard Drive

 

I have done an audio recording while I ran the AC Odyssey benchmark so it can be heard clearly.

 

 

I would guess this is a Power Supply issue but any advice would be appreciated because I use my PC for a lot and I really don't want it failing on me.

 

(I know my cable management is bad I'll fix that)

Its hard to tell in the video as it does sound like a hard drive spinning in some parts, but it could be coil whine. Usually GPU's whine the most out of all components, but it could be power supply or even motherboard. If it is just coin whine, while it can be annoying, its not really an issue, just annoying.

 

Try and google/youtube computer coil whine or video card coil whine and see if it sounds similar to what you are seeing.

Did you try manually stopping each fan?

I notice your squeaky chair. Other than that, everything sounds normal. Your HDD is whisper quiet compared to mine.

Could also be a fan... Just put your finger on the inner circular spinning part (not the blades themselves) and slow it down with the friction of your finger.

Sounds like normal HDD noises. You can probably replicate the noise by copying files to or from the hard drive or running CrystalDiskMark on the drive.

Pretty much all of the not-fan-noise noise is just the HDD churning away. Only real fix would be find a way to isolate it from the case using rubber bands/foam or something (or just break the wallet and buy a case or some kind of 5.25" adapter that has mounts with dampening in them).

He already did as he said on his last forum. Also it is a new hdd

Uh-huh, and like I said it sounds like normal HDD noises. So it makes sense that a new HDD would make the same sounds.
