Need input on these specs

I'm am upgrading my PC since the last one is now about 7 years old, I primarily use it for playing games and it does do that well, but as of late to play some of the games I've gotten into I only get around 20 fps at medium or low settings. This build:

is about where I am with being able to do what I would like now as well as improve more easily in the future unlike my last one which I haven't done any upgrades except for a wifi card when lan wasn't available. Any input to improve my build for price to performance would very much appreciated. As for peripherals I have mouse and keyboard that I have upgraded throughout the years and the monitors are to be desired but I can live with the two I have until I have more capital to procure better ones.

The PSU is complete overkill. You can use a HDD for secondary storage and it'll be so much cheaper. You don't need that kind of cooler for that CPU. You can use something like a Dark Rock Pro 4 from Be Quiet! to spend a little less and get something quieter. You don't need to spend so much on the motherboard either, that it quite a lot there.

Really solid build, I just have an issue with almost every other main component costing more than the CPU.  970 EVOs are wasted on gaming.  Watercooling that CPU is a waste, the stock cooler does great.

Unless that CPU is just a placeholder for the next gen, that PC is priced for an Intel OC'd to death setup.

so would swapping to an i5 or i7 be a better set-up instead of a Ryzen? My last computer is amd so i figured to go that route this time too, since i didn't have any issues with it.

8700K or better.

I'd cut the 970's out and put in 860's or similar.  You don't need NVMe.

Less PSU too.

More GPU.

1tb for the second drive is just not enough, so my suggestion is to buy a big HDD instead.

500gb ssd + 3tb (or more) HDD should be enough, remember 1 game can cost you 50gb or more, not including the updates.

RTX 2060 is only $50 away, i would just delete the $20 each extra fans to get that.

Fans should be bought after you build the system, the case should provide enough airflow, and Ryzen is not a hot cpu.

The PSU should be 500-650 watt, more than enough to drive the whole system.

Ryzen 5700g @ 4.4ghz all cores | Asrock B550M Steel Legend | 3060 | 2x 16gb Micron E 2666 @ 4200mhz cl16 | 500gb WD SN750 | 12 TB HDD | Deepcool Gammax 400 w/ 2 delta 4000rpm push pull | Antec Neo Eco Zen 500w

What monitor are you gaming on ?

Go with Z390 chipset for a 9th gen cpu. The Z370 might need a bios update to work.

You would need to buy some fans as that case doesn't have any pre-installed.

How much is the 2060 gpu ?

My monitors are pretty bad, but for me that's okay for now. They are 20" 55hz 1080p. The 2060 from nvidia is 350 and I did find an msi z390 board for about the same I thought the same with the case I had added fans someone said to scrap them until the computer is build, but I'll add them back to the cost

If you are not fussed about Ray Tracing etc then this GTX 1070 is $299 after rebate. Not quite as powerful as the 2060 which is more or less on par with a 1070 ti but at least you don't lose any VRAM. And for 1080p it is a good gpu. Will even do ok at 1440p.

Yeah for Z390 Gigabyte or MSI would be my suggestion. The Asus boards are not that great for the most part on Z390.

You would need to buy some fans if going with that case otherwise you won't have any airflow. You need some intake and exhaust.

I would probably try to save some money everywhere and would try to fit in a 24", 144 hz, free sync, 1080p monitor.

Investing in the gaming experience. You would maybe have to step down a gpu tier but your overall setup would match better.

Just out of my head go ryzen 2600 and save 80 $ on cpu, 40 $ on a cooler and 60 $ on the motherboard, take the 10 % or so performance hit and buy a monitor with the difference.

You could save some more on case and ssd.

Maybe even get 1440p gaming.

When I am at home I will make you a config.

But maybe @LukeSavenijehas something for you

I would avoid a Blower style Vega 64. He might as well stick with the RTX 2060 for $350 if spending that sort of money.
