you don't build bitcoin mining rigs, you buy ASICs. Even then the return on those are seldom

The best altcoin to mine is subjective. Most stick between LTC, Doge, NVC, and FTC.

Sell the CPU, buy a Sempron CPU and an older used top shelf motherboard (i.e. MSI GD70 790X) leave the rig out of case or use a milk crate. You may use PCI extensions if you want. Don't skimp on the PSU. For OS you can use whatever, all you need is 4gb of any RAM.

spend the rest on whatever good AMD GPU's you can find.

run them in crossfire and what mobo and procesor would be good?

I'm a noob when it comes to mining. But, I think cpu doesn't matter much. But motherboard has. We have specially made motherboards just for mining. Just google it as i don't know any and secondly, i don't know how to make a dedicated rig.

With $5000, you'll probably have to make 3 separate rigs to get the best hash rate.

edit:  Maybe something like 13 x R9 270s and 2 X R9 290s across 3 x 5-pcie slot  motherboards, 3 AMD APUs, and 3 x 1000W Gold rated PSUs

Main rig: i7 3770K @ 4.54, Sapphire R9 290, Sabertooth Z77, 16 GB Mushkin Redline 2133, Lian Li PC-P50R, Seasonic 860xp Platinum, Kingston Hyper X 3K 240GB

freeNAS server: AMD Athlon II 170u 20W, 5 x 3TB WD Red in raid-z1 (12 TB)

media centre: AMD A10-5700, crucial M4 (boot), running XBMC,4 x 3TB WD Red, 3 x 3TB WD green + 2TB green in FlexRAID (17 TB)

Check this guide http://www.cryptobadger.com/2013/04/build-a-litecoin-mining-rig-hardware/

I'd highly recommend splitting your investment a little by purchasing $1000 - $2000, or half your total worth of Bitcoins and Litecoins directly. Diversify your method of entry to have better standing for whatever the market may do. Sudden price and/or difficulty increase will render your mining hardware less profitable to the point of potentially impractical to run.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Users cannot, and will not securely manage key material. Most users can't and the ones that can, wont.

Ask me about Bitcoin, Litecoin, Crypto-Currencies, and/or Mining them.

There are many opinions, its a fact that the first ASICS for scypt coins are comming out in a few months. I would buy some Scrypt ASICS when they come out for that money. Forget Bitcoin, you arent going to make big money out of it unless you want to stay in concurrence with companies that have always the non-plus-ultra rigs with multiple terrahashes.

you should get 2-3 cheap socket 1150 motherboards with a few pci slots, then buy some pci risers and put in each motherboard about 5 videocards(270, 280x, 290, 7970, 7950, 7870xt), get some cheap cpu's and 4gb of ram for each system

something like this would be perfect

AMD Athlon X4 750k; Gigabyte F2A88XM-DS2; 8Gb Corsair XMS 1600 Mhz; AMD Hd5670 1Gb DDR3; Bequiet E6-600W; W7 Ultimate x64
