Ok, so this is going to be my first build and I've gotten everything except for the Case and the Monitor which I'm having a horrible time deciding on. Hoping to get some feedback on the parts (did I mess up anywhere?) and some suggestions on case/monitor (I have a few in mind which I'll list).

CPU - Core i5-4670k

Cooler - Noctua NH-D14

Motherboard - Asus Z87 Plus

PSU - Corsair TX750

Memory - G.Skill Ripjaws X 16 gig 1600 9-9-9

Video - EVGA GeForce GTX 780 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support Dual FTW w/ EVGA ACX Cooler Video Card

SSD - Samsung 250GB 840 Evo

HD - WD Black 1 TB

Ok, don't think I forgot anything. So that's what I have so far, hopefully nothing wrong with anything there.

Monitors - I'm torn. Linus did a great review of the BenQ XL2420TE so I think that'd be the 144hz one I'd get if I go 144hz. However, I'm also looking at the Asus PB278Q and the Dell U2713HM for my 1440p options. I'm not a MLG so I don't think I need to go 144hz (there's just a lot of folks saying if you're doing gaming, get 144hz) but on top of that I'm in Australia. One of the shops I went to said that in Aus both LG and BenQ dropped their dead pixel warranty (and from what I can see on BenQ's website it looks like it's only 14 days after purchase for dead pixel now) where as Samsung/Dell and, I think, Asus have kept their ones. I still need to call BenQ to clarify because the their warranty page lists 2 different parts for monitors so it's a little confusing, but if they only have a 14 day one should that influence my choice? The Dell one, from reading, has had some production problems with cross hatching and bleed through, the Asus has had some bleed through as well. Have they kept their warranty just because there's problems with their monitors to be expected where as BenQ's TN one isn't suffering the same problems as the IPS/PLS of Dell/Asus?

Case - My current rig has a Coolermaster HAF 932 case, I haven't had any huge issues with it other than I wish it came with dust filters and I've had to put on my own. The Fractal Define R4 looks like a nice case, would it suit my build parts? Either that or I was looking at the Corsair Carbide Series 540 perhaps. Case seems to be much more about what you like as opinions vary so widely. Would I be making a safe choice with any of those?

Thanks in advance for any insights offered, especially about the monitor dilemma.

The Define R4 is a wonderful case, and The ASUS PB278Q is a wonderful monitor.

I actually own the BenQ XL2420TE and I CAN say that it makes a noticeable difference in gaming. Fast games like shooters are a MUCH better experience and even otehr applications like Hearthstone, for a silly example, feel smoother and more fluent. Wether or not you value that better than 1440p resolution is up to you.

Case: Meatbag, humanoid - APU: Human Brain version 1.53 (stock clock) - Storage: 100TB SND (Squishy Neuron Drive) - PSU: a combined 500W of Mitochondrial cells - Optical Drives: 2 Oculi, with corrective lenses.

btw if you're going to just do gaming, remove 8gigs of ram and try going for a 4770k or a 780Ti.

Too late on that front as I've already bought that stuff, the advice I got at the time was that if I was just doing gaming I didn't need a 4770k, it was more for editing and stuff like that.

well there will be a time soon when the games might need those extra threads. Yes your current processor is more than enough!

Either cases are good options. You could just buy dust filters for your case though.

I'd go for the IPS panel since it will look much better.
