Does the T480s or RBS2019 fit my need?

Hello there,

I wanted another opinion on my upcoming laptop purchase. I’m currently using very outdated hardware so I’m finding it difficult to know how much power I actually need.

I spend most of time with Illustrator, visual studio code, several chrome tabs open and often a Skype or discord call/video.

I walk constantly so portability is priority and 15” models are too heavy for my day.

I think my choices are the T480s or the Razer Stealth 2019. As they both have the mx150 and TB3, which are things I would like for external displays and heavier workloads when at home.

A few questions;

will I miss the extra power of the mx150 on the razor or for my workload will the 10w version in the 480s suffice?

Is there another laptop I am overlooking that would fit my needs as far as ultralight, performance and TB3 support?

Or am I completely off on estimating my needs and require something less/more powerful?

Thanks for taking a look!

1. MX150 in T480s is 10W while Stealth 2019 has 25W with excellent cooling solution

2. TB3 in T480s is x2 PCIe lanes

Despite all the pros in Stealth 2019, I would not recommend it due to poor QC and warranty

Location? Budget? Any preference on weight, battery life and display size?

Im in Canada. 2500-3000$ CAD. I need the thinnest/lightest possible as I walk a lot for work and school. Battery life needed. 13” to 14”.

Im unsure if I even need an mx150 for light illustrator work and writing with visual studio code. Would I be fine using an intel UHD 620 or other integrated graphics?

Thanks!

dGPU might help but iGPU is still usable, though I might get wrong since I'm noob in software side things

I chose the X1 carbon.

Lenovo offers a 25% discount for students so this brought the price to $2,100 CAD for an almost fully loaded 1440p model (512 SSD instead of 1Tb).

With those savings I can purchase a 4K display and eGPU enclosure in the near future.

Thanks for your help!
