If it's branded with FreeSync, it should support variable refresh rate over HDMI.

So if i connect the monitor up and in the settings of my xboxone x shows variable refresh rate that means it has freesync through hdmi 2.0?

Actually I misunderstood compatibility. It's only available if the monitor has HDMI 2.1 support. The monitor you have was before HDMI 2.1 so it won't work.
