Zotac GTX 1080Ti Amp Extreme Core Edition no signal but LED's are glowing

Good evening my dear fellow LTT-subscribers,

 

I've got a little problem..

 

I recently bought a used GTX 1080Ti it worked smoothly for the last month or so but now I don't get a signal from the card at all.

 

Its LED's are glowing and the system works just fine with my old RX570 but with the new one I can't even see the BIOS startup.

 

The rest of my setup is

ASRock AB350 Pro4

AMD Ryzen 5 1600x with bequiet! Shadow rock LP cooler

2x 8GB DDR4-2666MHz Crucial Ballistix Sport LT (might be a little bit slow but when I built the pc I couldn't get anything better or would have had to may almost double the price)

bequiet! Straight Power 10 700W 80+ Gold modular (I know it's somewhat overkill for my old card but I got it in B condition for almost nothing)

2x SanDisk Ultra II 480GB SATA-SSDs

 

BIOS on mainboard is up to date, cmos reset didn't help.

 

I tried all display outputs and there is no signal on any of them.

 

Any ideas what I could/should try next?

 

The card has no warranty support and the seller isn't willing to help me (which I can understand, since it worked while he used it).

 

I'd be glad for any help/ideas you guy might have.

Take the card out and smell it. Try booting with another onboard graphics and see if you can see it in devices

Just keeping this here as a It doesn't smell burned or anything if you mean that.

 

I'm not really able to have two cards installed simultaneously my case is too small for that,

or atleast with the two cards I have.

 

I screwed a different cooler onto my RX570 and now it also is a triple slot card, if not even more because of the fan.

(I installed an Accelero S3 passive cooler on it with a noiseblocker fan ontop of that)

 

And there is nobody around who i could ask to borrow a card from.

so luckily my co-worker had an old GTX960 laying around and he borrowed it to me.

 

I pluged the 1080Ti and the 960 in at the same time and windows seemed to start normally (HDMI in 960).

 

then I went into the device manager, both cards were detected although the 1080ti was marked with a small symbol.

 

When I opened the device in the list it said that it couldn't be installed correctly and needed a different set of drivers

and while trying to take a screenshot my pc turned down and started right back up in automatic recovery which I let do its thing. Then the system started up again and both graphics cards were displayed as working in the device manager but after that the whole thing repeated and wouldn't start up again with both cards installed.

 

I tested the 960 on its own and it worked just fine.

 

There were two other things I noticed which hadn't occured before. While the system was running the RGB leds were red the entire time and a single blue led on top of the card was constantly blinking, when it crashed the leds started to show rgb colours again and the single led was still blinking blue.

 

when i had the 1080ti running alone it would always display the rgb colours.

 

I don't know if thats just some internal settings and the card is supposed to do that.

 

Does that somehow help to diagnose the problem?

Now I somehow got my system running while the 1080Ti was installed, I used the 960 to get some pictures of the device manager, sorry it's in german but I was so happy that I quickly took the pictures without thinking about it.

 

I'll also make a second post with more pics of device manager and some from gpuz.

 

reinstalling the drivers via device manager didn't help at all.

i’ve got the same problem but when i open gpu z and go to my zotac gtx 1080 amp extreme is doesn’t even show the bios. Does anyone know how to fix our problem?
