Laptop for School

So I am looking for a laptop for the new school semester.

 

Budget: ~1500 USD
 

Use Case: I will be doing graduate level accounting coursework so different office programs (mainly excel), some accounting statistics software for an data analytics class I have. I will not be gaming on this I have a desktop for that.
 

Must haves: A nice keyboard I will be using the laptop for a good bit of typing. Good battery life my classes are 2 hours and 45 minutes it would be nice to be able to after class be able to work on a group assignment and not be stuck to an outlet. 

Nice to have: A touch screen or some pen functionality I still take notes by hand but it would be nice to have the mark up in one note option. A more professional look I am not trying to be talking to professors I may need a recommendation from with my super RGB gamer laptop. 

 

As of now I like the look of the surface laptop 2 (i5 8gb spec) because of the good things I have heard about the keyboard but open to suggestions.  

Location: NC, would like something rather light because I am hauling this with textbooks in a backpack

Preferred max weight in kg/lbs and min battery life in hours? Any preference on display size and display size? Must it be 2 in 1 / tablet?

Weight is kinda abstract for me I dont have a good number to quantify it just not like stupid heavy like 4 LBS

At least +8 hours on battery life.

I would say at least like a 13 inch. As far as screen quality I am not sure if there is a type of display that leads to easier reading of text, if so that. 

It does not have to be a 2 in 1 or tablet.

My suggestion would be an LG Gram or Dell XPS 13 (or 15)

I know the Gram is a Q1 product would it be worth waiting for the 2019 refresh?
